Time | Activity |
---|---|
7:30 am | Both lifeguard and attendant arrive at beach, begin chair and umbrella setup (Depending on how many sets you need to set up, you may or may not have to get there earlier or later than 7:30 am.) |
8:00 am | Flag must be up. All guards are required to be on the beach at this time, if you are mobile, this rule still applies. |
9:00 am | Chair and umbrella setup must be complete. Reserved Cards with renters names must also be put out. At this time, the lifeguard moves up to the tower to watch the water and the attendante continues to monitor the chairs and umbrellas. FROM 9 AM-5 PM THERE MUST ALWAYS BE A LIFEGUARD IN THE TOWER! |
11:30 am – 12:15pm | First Lunch The RL (roving lifeguard) in your zone will move to your stand during whichever lunch you have. |
12:15 pm – 1:00 pm | Second lunch |
1:00 pm – 1:45 pm | Third Lunch |
1:45 pm – 2:30 pm | LGO Lunch |
4:00 pm | Begin breakdown of chairs and umbrellas You may have to start slightly earlier/later than this depending on how many sets you have up and how many people are still sitting. When breakdown starts, lifeguard and attendant can take turns breaking down equipment. THERE MUST ALWAYS BE AT LEAST 1 LIFEGUARD IN THE TOWER! |
5:00 pm | Flag can be dropped and you may leave the beach once all equipment is securely locked. |
Table 1 shows the average day for a lifeguard, but times could vary depending on the size and demand of your stand. During the day you can take two 15 minute breaks, one before lunch and one after lunch. In order to take a break, the two guards to both sides of your stand must be on the beach. You cannot leave the beach if these guards are not here. You can “10-25” (meet halfway between stands to talk to your border guard) once before lunch and once after lunch, never during lunches, and never for extended periods of time. Additional breaks are permitted per management approval if circumstances warrant.
